About Boyd Grain

Boyd Grain is a family-operated business headquartered in Washington, IN. Tom Boyd started the company back in 1978 that has now evolved into Boyd Grain. The company farms over 11,000 acres in Daviess County, operates a grain elevator, manages warehouses, and runs a trucking and brokerage operation. Although each of these business entities provide important synergies, they are incorporated and managed separately.

Tom's son Trent has taken over the farming operation responsibilities. The Boyd's grow mostly corn, popcorn, and soybeans. Tom and Trent believe it is essential to keep their equipment current and reliable. Every year they trade for new combines and update several of their tractors. They are blessed to have some of the best farming help in the world. Todd and Denny have been working for Tom for over 85 combined years!

The trucking division was a natural outgrowth from the grain business. Tom was hauling his own grain but saw the opportunity to use the trucks during the off-season. He began transporting dry freight. Boyd Grain trucks now haul everything from fertilizer to car-parts. The trucking fleet includes approximately 100 trucks that pull vans, dumps, tankers, flatbeds, and hoppers. The brokerage division launched in 2007 and is based in Evansville, IN and Olney, IL. Warehousing was another natural outgrowth which now amounts to over 300,000 square feet of space.  Tom's son-in-law Logan Graber now heads up these divisions.

There is never a dull moment at the Boyd household. Tom and Marsha keep very busy with their 7 grandkids' many activities. They actively support the 4-H program in Daviess County and are members of Antioch Christian Church. Tom was named Master Farmer of the Year in 1990 and the Boyd's have also received Indiana's Friends of Extension award. The Daviess County Chamber of Commerce recently presented  Tom with the Hagel Award for his work above and beyond in the community.

The Boyd's believe that God has blessed them tremendously, especially with great employees. They understand that you are only as strong as your people. They are very proud of the dedicated employees at Boyd Grain.
